Startup Weekend, Phoenix, Community and Odysseys
First and foremost, we were TechCrunched! Haha. That’s the truly ‘first and foremost’ point of anything really, but it’s pretty fun and cool. The “we” I speak of is community of Designers, Developers, Lawyers, Entrepreneurs and whomever else(!) that attended. That “we” was TechCrunched. A big thanks goes out to Jeremy Tanner and Startup Weekend for guiding us all through the event
Sadly-ish, as of tomorrow I will no longer be part of that “we”s future. I’m very much okay with that. I’m not happy, nor am I sad. I’ve had a very thorough experience in Phoenix and learned a lot from it’s tech community.
I am thankful to the mentality promoted by Integrum, Forty, Obu Web and the many other respectable people that I’ve met via Refresh, Hacknight, Gangplank and various other functions. It was the togetherness of these people that is the hardest thing to leave and was the ‘funnest’ part of moving here in the first place. I am thankful to have gone out with a bang at Startup Weekend Phoenix 2008. I participated in the creation of Twitratr. Which I didn’t realize just how horrible that name was until I saw it on the TechCrunch post - we’ll blame that on Beaux, it was his idea
- but I couldn’t care less. It was just fun. In less than two days we had something that existed and worked that hadn’t before. It was a pleasure creating with Beaux, Chase and Mike.
So yeah.. I’m done with this post. I want to have something more eloquent to say but right now I don’t. I give my thanks to the people of Phoenix. Perhaps I’ll see you again someday.
